I have already reviewed but noticed a review stating not to feed to dogs with kidney problems. I have long researched reputable web links and the high protein theory has been negated. In fact I feed Orijen Sr. along with holistic supplements to our 3 year old Pug with bladder stones. Orijen contains cranberries which are very good to increase the acidity in Pug's urinary tract.

We use the Sr. for all of our Pugs [3] since our 11 year old has insulin resistance and we know that can be genetic in some Pugs.

Our dogs love the taste and have leaned down and are very shiny and active on this food.

I have recommended this food to other Pug owners with confidence.

We are on SS and have to be careful with our money, but good nutrition and preventative measures are paramount to us.

I hope you'll research the protein/bladder connection in detail.

I have a pre-diabetic 12 year old Pug and a slightly fat [20 lbs] 5 year old Pug.

I switched to Orijen about 5 months ago. It is expensive but my diabetic Pug does not appear to get high blood sugar anymore [glassy eyes, panting etc]

I hand feed her about 1 oz.- 4 times daily. She is 14 lbs and loves the food, even though she is missing teeth. Sometimes I moisten the food but she prefers dry.

My younger Pug loves the food, I give her about 4oz a day and slowly she is losing weight.

We've feed Purina for 15 years to our Pugs and just recently researched the grain free and made the switch.

We have trouble affording the food occasionally but as long as we can afford it, our Pugs will be given nothing else.

We recommend to all of our friends who have small dogs.

I want to preface this by saying this is a great dog food. However, DO NOT feed this dog food if you suspect that your dog has bladder stones or kidney disease! High protein diets lower urine pH and put extra strain on the kidneys, so please, please, please, be careful and monitor your older dogs if they are on this high of protein diet!

I have a 10 year old diabetic brittany that we have had wonderful success regulating his diet and insulin needs with orijen senior. He loves it and looks years younger than his age. It is well worth the price! His vet is thrilled with his appearance and his labwork is spot-on.

My 9 yearold german shepherd has had problems, skin and stomach since I have gotten him. The Orijen is the best thing I have found for all his problems. It took time for his problems to clear up but he looks great today a year after starting Orijen.

My dog loves this kibble,and my pup loves the Orijen Puppy, Large Breed. I combine Orijen with Stella & Chewy's Raw Food Patties for optimum nutrition.
